A LITTLE OF MY STORY
Week II – Day 3
Ndere Cultrual Experience – 7/26
So if you follow me on FB (Facebook for
those of you who don’t), you probably saw that I had a hard time not “going
live” and having y’all see what I was seeing – beautiful women and men dancing
a variety of traditional Ugandan dances. Thanks to our dear friend Becky
Wamala, Michael and I went to the Ndere Cultural Center to see a live
performance put on by (in my opinion) Uganda’s top showman, Stephen Rwangyezi.

Mr. Rwangyezi runs a large dance troupe
and provides visitors to Kampala a show of a lifetime – full of the drumming
and dancing of many ethnic groups around the country. The evening started off with an amazing
introduction. Mr. Rwangyezi asked the audience where they came from and it was
unbelievable! Germany, Switzerland, Grand Cayman, Spain, and of course, USA!!
We were all there to learn about Uganda through music and dance.

The Ndere Cultural Center is also a
place that has lodging, a full restaurant, and meeting space for workshops. It’s
tucked away up on a hill away from the traffic and noise and made me think, “When
my friends and family come visit in a large group, this is where I will host
them.”
I hope you enjoy the pictures and I’m sure that the video clips don’t work because they took forever to load. Sorry!
